LivTours Review: Milan Small-Group Tours

LivTours is a premium small-group operator with a Milan programme built almost entirely around Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper and the Duomo di Milano, sold direct on its own site rather than through a marketplace. This review covers what it actually offers in Milan, at what price, under what cancellation terms, and where our partner products cover the same ground for less.

Who LivTours is

The company was founded in 2009 by Angelo Carotenuto as LivItaly Tours and rebranded to LivTours, and as of 2024 it listed over 350 tours across Italy, Spain, France, England, Austria and Germany, according to its about page. Corporate structure is spelled out in the site footer: LivItaly Tours LLC is registered in California, and Italian and EU operations run through Agenzia Viaggi Visit & Live di A&K srls, P.IVA 1309234100, at Via Domenico Millelire 23, Rome, under a Province of Rome travel-agency authorisation dated 4 February 2015.

That matters for one reason. Milan is a destination for LivTours, not a base — the contact page publishes phone lines for the US, Italy and Australia plus a Rome address, no Milan address, and it routes calls to a Rome-based customer service team. No Milan premises or local coordinator appears anywhere on the site, so if something goes wrong at the meeting point, use the contact details on the voucher — the company says those are the ones to rely on for a live booking.

What LivTours sells in Milan

Eleven Milan products plus airport transfers to and from Malpensa and Linate. Prices are per person on semi-private departures and a base price per group on private ones, taken from livtours.com in September 2026.

Two details are easy to misread. The 3-hour Last Supper tour is €149, not the €169 quoted in some third-party summaries, and its Duomo element is the exterior — the route runs Santa Maria delle Grazie, San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore, Piazza degli Affari with the L.O.V.E. sculpture, then the cathedral from the square. If you want to be inside the Duomo with a guide, that is the separate €109 terrace product or one of the full-day itineraries.

What the six-person cap buys

The cap is the product. Fifteen minutes in the refectory is fifteen minutes whoever you book with, and the Cenacolo lets a maximum of about 30 people into the climate-controlled room at once. With five other guests you can hear a guide speaking quietly instead of through a headset, and you can ask a question in the room rather than saving it for the pavement outside. On a 25-person coach departure you cannot.

Where the cap earns less is the Duomo. The cathedral is large, headsets work well, and a small-group platform tour with rooftop lift access covers the interior, the terraces, the Duomo Museum and San Gottardo for €68 — roughly a third of LivTours’ private Duomo price and €41 below its semi-private one.

Languages, guides and inclusions

Milan pages state that guides and staff are selected experts who speak perfect English, and the company says prices always include tickets and reservation fees, so there is no queueing or separate ticket purchase on the day. English is the only language advertised on the Milan departures and the booking screens carry no language selector, so if you need Italian, Spanish, French or German, ask in writing before you pay rather than assuming it can be arranged.

Customer service is advertised daily 08:00–22:00 Central European Time by phone, email and WhatsApp. The company also states membership of GreenStep Sustainable Tourism, a GSTC-accredited certification body.

Cancellation: read the ticket line, not the headline

The headline policy is generous. Cancel or amend up to 24 hours before the start time for any reason and you take either a 100% refund to your original payment method or 110% of the value as LivTours credit that never expires. Inside 24 hours, nothing is refundable or amendable.

The exception is the part that costs money. The same page lists entrance tickets that are non-refundable on every tour type, and for Milan those are the Last Supper and the Duomo di Milano. In practice the guiding is flexible and the tickets are not, which is exactly what you would expect from a venue that releases timed slots in batches and sells them out in minutes.

Verdict

Good for: couples and pairs who want the Last Supper explained properly in a group of six, travellers who dislike headsets, and families or groups of four to six taking a private departure where the per-group price divides well.

Less good for: solo travellers and anyone price-sensitive — €149 per person against €99 for a comparable guided walk plus reserved ticket is a large premium for a cap you may not need. Also weak if you need a non-English guide, or a staffed local office to call on the day.

When to choose LivTours, and when a partner product wins

Choose LivTours if the group cap is the reason you are booking, or if you want one private guide for the whole day and are travelling as four or more.
