Milan Duomo Tickets: Prices and What to Book

Milan Duomo tickets are confusing for one reason: the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano sells access to six separate areas, and resellers repackage them under different names. The ladder runs from €11.50 for the cathedral online to €69 for a two-hour guided tour with the terraces, and almost everyone should be somewhere in the middle. Below is every rung, what it opens, and the honest answer on whether the more expensive version earns its money.

Milan Duomo tickets: the price ladder, rung by rung

Note the gap that catches people out: the official terraces-only ticket is €16 on foot, but no reseller sells the stairs version separately — the €19 online terraces ticket lets you choose lift or stairs at booking. If you are happy on stairs and happy to queue at the desk, the official ticket is the cheapest roof in Milan.

What each official ticket actually opens

The names on ticket.duomomilano.it do not match the names on reseller sites, so translate them before you buy.

Duomo + Museum (€10 / €5 reduced) — the cathedral, the Duomo Museum in Palazzo Reale and the Church of San Gottardo in Corte. Not the terraces, not the archaeological area, not the crypt. On Wednesdays the museum and San Gottardo close and the price becomes €8 / €4 for the cathedral alone.

Rooftops (€18 lift / €16 stairs) — a single entrance to the terraces, with the cathedral and museum excluded. This is the ticket resellers list at €19.

Culture Pass (€15 / €13) — cathedral, archaeological area, Crypt of Saint Charles, Duomo Museum and San Gottardo, valid for the chosen day and the following day. No roof.

Duomo Pass Lift / Stairs, also sold as Combo Lift / Combo Stairs (€26 / €22) — cathedral, terraces and museum with San Gottardo, valid two days. This is the standard first-visit ticket and the one resellers mirror at €26.

Fast-Track Rooftops by lift (€28) and Fast-Track Combo Lift (€32) — priority entrance; the combo adds the archaeological area and the crypt to the €26 pass contents.

Archaeological Area (€5) and Crypt of Saint Charles (€3.50) — add-ons that require a cathedral ticket. The crypt closes on Sundays and religious festivals.

Official vs Tiqets vs GetYourGuide

The cathedral-only rung is the clearest illustration of the trade-off. Official: €10, includes the Duomo Museum, no booking fee since April 2025, but you queue at Piazza del Duomo 14/A or fight the official site’s virtual waiting room in peak season. Tiqets: €11.50, instant delivery, smartphone ticket, museum included — and non-refundable. GetYourGuide: €11.50 for the same access, with nearly 7,000 reviews behind it.

At €26 the cathedral-plus-rooftop combination matches the official Duomo Pass Lift exactly, which makes this the rung where a reseller costs you nothing. The Tiqets version is non-refundable; the official Duomo Pass buys you two days of validity instead, so if your plans might move, the official ticket is the flexible one. GetYourGuide sets its cancellation window per product rather than across the range, and our data does not carry it for these listings, so read the terms shown on the product page before you pay.

What resellers genuinely add is delivery and clarity. Every Tiqets Duomo product in our data is an instant-delivery smartphone ticket — no printing, no collection desk, no voucher exchange — and each one states plainly what is included and whether it is wheelchair accessible. The €19 terraces ticket and the €39 fast-track ticket are marked wheelchair accessible; the €11.50 cathedral ticket and the €26 combo are not.

Cancellation is the real differentiator, and it varies by product rather than by platform:

• €11.50 cathedral, €26 cathedral + rooftop, €38.50 guided VR tour — non-refundable on Tiqets.
• €19 terraces, €39 fast-track cathedral + terraces — cancellable up to the ticket date.
• €34 fast-track terraces — cancellable up to 24 hours before.
• €48, €68 and €69 guided tours — cancellable up to 24 hours before the time slot.

Guided tours: where the €48–69 goes

Three tiers exist. At €48 you get an hour on the terraces only, with a guide, lift access and a headset — no cathedral. At €68 the small-group tour adds skip-the-line entry to the cathedral, the museum and San Gottardo across 90 minutes, and it is the best-rated Duomo product we track at 4.8 from 115 reviews. At €69 the two-hour tours on either platform cover cathedral and rooftop with a live guide; GetYourGuide’s equivalent carries 3,027 reviews at 4.8.

Guided tours are the only sensible option if you want the tiburio, the Quadroni di San Carlo and the Madonnina’s history explained rather than looked up afterwards. They also use the priority entrance. The exact meeting point is on your voucher.

Languages are worth checking: the €68 small-group tour runs in English and Italian, the €48 rooftop tour in English and Spanish, and the €39 fast-track ticket comes with an audio guide in nine languages including Chinese, Japanese and Russian.

Queue reality, and whether fast track is worth it

There are three separate queues in Piazza del Duomo, and buying online only removes the first.

1. The ticket office. Skipped by any online ticket, official or reseller.
2. Security screening at the cathedral door. Everyone passes through it. Only Fast-Track tickets and guided tours use the separate priority entrance.
3. The lift to the terraces. The slowest of the three in summer, because the lift only reaches the first level and capacity is fixed.

The official Fast-Track Combo Lift is €32 and adds the archaeological area and the Crypt of Saint Charles on top of cathedral, terraces and museum — genuinely more content than the €26 pass, not just a shorter wait. The Tiqets and GetYourGuide fast-track products at €39 include San Gottardo and, on the Tiqets version, a nine-language audio guide.

Our rule of thumb: pay for fast track between mid-June and early September, on public holidays, and on Saturdays in spring and autumn. Outside those, book the first slot of the day at €26 and walk straight in. The Fabbrica also flags fast-track lift access as a seasonal service, so check availability before you plan around it.

Duomo + something else: the 5% bundles

Tiqets sells “Duomo + X” bundles at 5% off the combined price, which is small but free money if you were buying both anyway. The four that make geographic sense from Piazza del Duomo:

• Duomo + The Last Supper — the two things most visitors come to Milan for; Santa Maria delle Grazie is 15 minutes away by metro. See /last-supper/ before you book, because Cenacolo slots drive the whole day.
• Duomo + Teatro alla Scala — a four-minute walk through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II; details on /la-scala/.

• Duomo + hop-on hop-off bus — worth it only if you plan to use the bus properly, which /hop-on-hop-off/ helps you judge.

There is also a Duomo + Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana ticket sold officially at €36 for 72 hours, and the Milano Duomo Card, a gift-style pass valid 12 months that bundles a Combo Lift admission or a Fast-Track guided tour with multimedia content and 10% off the Duomo Shop.

How to spend less

Buy officially for the lowest headline price, and pick your day. Wednesday drops the cathedral to €8 because the museum and San Gottardo are shut. Students under 26 pay €13 for the Culture Pass with a school badge. Visitors with disabilities and one accompanying person enter free, with a manual wheelchair available at the DuomoInfopoint against an ID document.

Two free-admission days are set for 2026 — 16 October and 4 November — and from 27 September 2026 the Duomo Museum is free on the last Sunday of each month, subject to change. Booking is mandatory for all of these.

Finally, ignore the “official-looking” ticket sites that are not authorised resellers — the Veneranda Fabbrica publishes a list of authorised resellers and warns that unaffiliated sites cannot guarantee ticket validity or fair pricing. How to get there and where to collect

Metro Duomo on M1 (red) and M3 (yellow) surfaces inside Piazza del Duomo; from Milano Centrale it is one direct M3 ride of roughly eight minutes. From Malpensa take the Malpensa Express to Cadorna and one stop on M1; from Linate, M4 to San Babila then M1, about 20 minutes in total. There is nothing to collect. Tiqets and GetYourGuide tickets arrive on your phone, and the official site emails a ticket you show at the gate. If you do buy in person, the two official desks are the Sala delle Colonne at Piazza del Duomo 14/A, on the right as you face the façade, and the Duomo Museum ticket office at Piazza del Duomo 12 — the museum desk is quieter, but it is closed on Wednesdays.

One warning about buying officially online: the ticket portal runs a virtual waiting room in peak periods, and it can hold you for several minutes before the ticket page loads. If you are booking the night before a morning slot, that is fine. If you are standing in the square at 10:30 in August, a reseller’s instant mobile ticket is the faster route in.

For most visitors the choice among Milan Duomo tickets is short: €10 officially if you only want the nave and the museum, €26 for cathedral plus terraces if this is your first time, fast track only in high summer, and a guided tour if you want the building explained.
