Headout is an experiences marketplace that sells attraction tickets, tours and transfers through an app-first interface, and it is one of the names Milan visitors meet without always recognising it — its inventory also powers standalone ticket sites such as tickets-milan.com. We have no commercial relationship with Headout for Milan; our partners are Tiqets and GetYourGuide, as set out on our operators page. This review exists because the platform turns up in Milan search results and readers ask what it is.
Who they are
Headout Inc. is a Delaware corporation registered at 82 Nassau Street in New York, trading since 2014. Its own pages report nine offices — Bengaluru, Paris, London, Singapore, New York, Dubai, Berlin, Rome and Barcelona — more than 55 million guests served, presence in 196+ countries, support in 14 languages, $60 million raised, over $200 million in revenue and a team of around 75 people. Leadership is listed as Varun Khona (CEO), Suren Sultania (COO), Rachit Watts (CTO) and Uttam Kumar Garodi (CFO).
The strategic difference from the bigger platforms is deliberate: a curated catalogue of high-demand attractions in a limited set of cities, rather than an exhaustive marketplace. Fewer listings per city, more polish per listing.
What the Milan inventory looks like
Read from its Milan microsite, the catalogue covers the bookings most first-time visitors want and stops there:
- Duomo di Milano — cathedral entry and rooftop/terrace combinations, plus guided options.
- The Last Supper — reserved-entry visits at Santa Maria delle Grazie, the same operator-allocation model everyone uses.
- Museums and houses — Castello Sforzesco, the Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, Leonardo3 in the Galleria, Villa Necchi Campiglio.
- Wellness and family — QC Termemilano, Leolandia near Bergamo.
- Transport — private and shared airport transfers, and Malpensa Express train tickets.
- Sightseeing buses and passes — a hop-on hop-off category carrying both the City Sightseeing and Milan Open Tour buses, and a city-cards page selling the YesMilano pass in its Flash, Standard and All-Inclusive versions.
One practical note on finding any of this: headout.com/milan redirects to the company’s homepage, so the Milan catalogue lives on the tickets-milan.com microsite rather than on a city page of the main domain.
That is a narrow but well-chosen list. What it does not attempt is the long tail: Teatro alla Scala museum slots, San Siro, Pinacoteca di Brera, Navigli boats, the Lake Como and Bernina day trips that fill our day trips page.
Policies you can verify
Two Headout statements sit awkwardly together, and both are worth reading before you book.
The consumer site promises “free cancellation and pay-later options on most experiences” and 24/7 trip support “in all languages”. The terms of use set the default the other way: once a booking is completed it cannot be changed or cancelled with a refund unless the listing or the supplier’s terms say otherwise. The terms also make clear that Headout is a facilitator — it states it is not a travel or tour agency and does not provide the experiences itself — that refunds are passed on only once Headout receives the money from the supplier, and that refunds offered as Headout Credits are neither transferable nor convertible back to cash.
None of that is unusual for a marketplace. It does mean the flexible-sounding headline is a per-listing feature, not a policy, and that a refund can move at the supplier’s pace.
Independently, Trustpilot shows Headout at 4.4 out of 5 from 62,977 reviews, with 74% five-star and 14% one-star ratings (checked September 2026). Praise goes to guides and a fast booking flow. Complaints cluster on wrong dates and cancelled bookings, guides not appearing at meeting points, queues despite a timed ticket, and — the one that matters for a reseller — the gap between the price paid and the venue’s own price.
Verdict
Strengths: clean app and checkout, a curated Milan list that covers the main attractions plus airport transfers, 24/7 support, an established company with real scale. Watch-outs: the refund default in the terms is non-refundable unless stated; refunds depend on the supplier paying up; the catalogue thins out beyond the headline sights; and comparing its Milan prices against the official cathedral price is on you. Bottom line: a competent platform, and if you already use its app you will not be badly served in Milan. We cannot recommend it commercially because we do not work with it, and for Milan specifically the attraction-first partners below carry deeper inventory on the same sights.

| Site | Price | Rating | Duration | Cancellation | Book |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GetYourGuide Milan: City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus with Audio Guide Lowest price | €22.5per person | ★ 4.07,934 reviews | 1 - 3 days | — | Book on GetYourGuide |
| Tiqets City Sightseeing Milan: Hop-on Hop-off Bus | €25per person | ★ 3.9387 reviews | — | Free cancellation | Book on Tiqets |
The hop-on hop-off comparison is the clearest case for using a partner: both platforms carry the City Sightseeing Milano network, the Tiqets version at €25 with cancellation up to 24 hours before the date and an audio guide in eight languages. Our hop-on hop-off page compares the routes and the 24/48/72-hour versions.
For the airport, the shared shuttle between Malpensa and Milano Centrale is €10 on Tiqets and cancellable up to the travel date — see airports and transfers for the train-versus-bus decision. And for the cathedral, entry with rooftop access is €26 with a timed slot.
Questions people ask
01Is Headout a legitimate ticket seller?
Yes. Headout Inc. is a Delaware corporation based in New York that has been trading since 2014 and says it has served more than 55 million guests. Its terms describe it as a marketplace: you buy from the supplier, and Headout facilitates the sale.
02Does Headout offer free cancellation in Milan?
It advertises free cancellation and pay-later on most experiences, but its terms of use set the opposite default: once a booking is completed it cannot be changed or refunded unless the listing or supplier terms say so. Check the specific listing, because both statements come from Headout itself.
03Why do we not link to Headout?
We link commercially to Tiqets first and GetYourGuide where Tiqets has no product. That is the whole of our commercial stack for Milan — Headout is covered here because readers meet it, and because its inventory powers other Milan ticket sites.
04What does Headout sell in Milan?
Cathedral tickets, Last Supper visits, Sforza Castle, the two Leonardo museums, Villa Necchi Campiglio, QC Terme Milano, Leolandia and airport transfers including the Malpensa Express, based on its Milan microsite. We do not quote its prices because we cannot read them from a live feed.
05Is tickets-milan.com the same company as Headout?
Yes in substance: tickets-milan.com carries a Headout Inc. copyright and runs on Headout's platform. See our review of that site for how the two relate.
