Vivaticket Review: The Official Last Supper Ticket System

Vivaticket is not a travel platform and does not want your itinerary. It is the ticketing system behind the Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano, which makes it the only official way to buy a €15 ticket for Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. Most travellers meet it once, under time pressure, at noon Italian time, and lose. This page explains how the sale actually works so you do not.

Who Vivaticket is

An Italian ticketing company founded in Bologna in 1999 by Luca Montebugnoli and Luana Sabattini, originally trading as Best Union Company. It was listed on the Milan stock exchange from 2008, delisted in June 2018 and rebranded as Vivaticket, and the Bahraini investment fund Investcorp took a majority stake in 2019.

Its business is integrated ticketing and access-control systems — software, hardware, turnstiles, box-office networks — sold to theatres, museums, sports venues, art exhibitions, trade fairs and amusement parks, with operating offices in Italy and abroad. Its corporate site sits behind a bot filter that returned no readable content to us in September 2026, so we publish no client, country or headcount figures for the group.

That background explains the experience. You are using enterprise box-office software with a consumer skin on it, not a travel marketplace. It does not upsell, it does not recommend, and it will not hold your slot while you think.

How the Cenacolo Vinciano sale works

Quarterly releases. Tickets go on sale about three months ahead in blocks, according to the museum. Admissions for September–December 2026 opened on 23 June 2026 at 12:00. Put the next opening date in your calendar the moment the museum announces it.

The Wednesday drop. Extra tickets for the following week are released every Wednesday at 12:00 noon, online only. This is the detail that saves short-notice trips, and it is the one most guides skip.

Free first Sundays. Free admissions for the first Sunday of the month go online only, from 12:00 on the preceding Wednesday, capped at five tickets. No groups and no guided tours run on free days, and the museum states plainly that availability is not assured.

Three channels, three caps. Online through Vivaticket, maximum 5 tickets and a maximum of 5 per calendar year. Call centre on +39 02 92800360, maximum 9. Email to the group address for parties of ten or more.

Named and final. Tickets are issued in the visitor’s name to prevent scalping, and names cannot be changed afterwards. The date and time cannot be moved and there are no refunds once the purchase completes. Carry ID that matches.

Practical tips for the release

Do the setup work the day before, not at 11:59.

• Register and confirm your email the day before. Whatever the platform accepts at checkout on the day, a live release is the wrong moment to be creating an account and waiting on a confirmation email.
• Be online by 11:50 Italian time — CET in winter, CEST in summer. Noon in Milan is 11:00 in London and 06:00 in New York.
• Have the card in your hand. Ticketing baskets are held for a short window that you cannot look up in advance, so treat it as a minute or two rather than five — a hunt for a CVV is enough to lose the slot.
• Type the name exactly as on the passport you will be carrying. There is no correcting it later.
• Decide your slot order before you start. Any time on the right day beats the perfect time on no day.
• Count your yearly allowance. Five online tickets per calendar year means a family of five gets one booking, not two attempts.
• Work in one browser tab. Neither the museum nor the platform publishes anything about concurrent sessions or a queue at release time, so extra tabs buy you nothing you can count on — and they make it easy to pay for the wrong slot.

When the official route is the wrong choice

Be honest about your own trip. The official ticket is cheapest and it is also the least forgiving product in Milan: fixed date, fixed name, no refund, released months before most people book flights.

If your dates are locked and distant, plan for the release. If your dates are close, or could still shift, a guided visit with a reserved ticket is not a rip-off — it is the only route that exists. The €15-to-€79 gap buys the operator’s allocation, a guide and, on most products, free cancellation up to 24 hours before the slot.

Reduced official rates are worth chasing if they apply to you: €2 for 18–25 year olds and free under 18, according to cenacolovinciano.org. Those bands do not exist on tour products, so a family with teenagers has a genuine reason to fight for the release.

Verdict

Vivaticket is fine at what it does, and it is not the problem. The constraint is 40 people per 15-minute slot in a climate-controlled refectory, not the software. No platform can sell what the museum cannot admit.

Use it first if you can plan three months out, or if you can be at a screen on a Wednesday at noon Italian time. Expect a plain interface, strict rules and no flexibility.
